Description
Something fairly simple, trying to avoid getting too rusty with my digital painting! After a couple false starts on other painting projects, doing an on-the-fly landscape is a nice change of pace. I'd call it a speedpaint, but technically it took me three days to finish it... (maybe three hours or so total, I didn't keep track and tried to stay nice and relaxed with it.)
Painted digitally in Photoshop CS5; aside from the sky backdrop (which is a simple gradient), everything else is done using a hard round brush and normal layer settings. It was a bit tough to resist putting some multiply or soft light layers on there to help with the lighting, but restricting myself to doing it all with opacity and proper color choices was a fun challenge. Doing the clouds without my usual scatter brush was also fun!
Lots of switching between the brush and eraser (which was also a simple hard round brush) to get that light, wispy look.
This is set somewhere in my fantasy world of Vyria; I haven't quite decided where yet, though it's clearly somewhere quite arid. Still working on the topology/geography of the world, with these sorts of on-the-fly landscapes to help shape the land.

Holy crap! It's fricken awesome Jio! Very proper concept art looking (if that's even a thing). ='D <3 My only suggestion is work out how'd you like the eye to travel across the picture and where you want your key focus to be on. But then again, this might not apply so much for you since you've just done it as something simple. Either way. Throwing a link at you cause I can [link] <3 Keep up the great work!
