"Where have you been?!"
<<><>>-------------------------------------------<<><>>
To answer that question? I've been here this whole time! Just very quietly. Comment here, favorite there, but really, just lurking for the past few months, I suppose. I realized I was going kinda quiet when friends started asking me where I was (you all know who you are, and thankies).
Anyway, was kinda in an art slump for a while. I've been coloring a great artwork I got for my birthday, but halfway done with shading (in a new shading style for me, to boot), I got stuck. And now I still am. It's a rather big picture, wit plenty of spots to test all sorts of fun, new shading styles (metal bits, fabric bits, hair, skin, different types of fabric, and even feathers). Unfortunately, I had too many ways to color, and I got stuck on the only one I felt like doing first. :dead:

Lucky me, I've always had other things to color, so I can take a break from one project and finish some other ones in the meantime. Took a little while to get in a coloring mood at all, but then my next point of interest...

Giftart!
<<><>>-------------------------------------------<<><>>
That's right, a giftart from the ever wonderful collaborator EpicMyst. Technically, "collaborator" isn't her official title, but having just finished my seventh collaboration with her, she's my unofficial collaboration buddy. =P I'm always happy to see her new artworks, happy to flip through her old stuff I've already seen, and uber-happy to color her works. But back to my point.
...A while ago, Epic was kind enough to offer me a giftart, as a sort of thank-you for all the collaborations I had done with her. (Though technically, I feel I owe her just as much for letting me color her works, most I've done so far is ask for permission to color.) Anyway, this little giftart turned into a whole project on Anji, one of my original characters; as I still can't draw well, I had to provide reference material in the form of wordy notes. A few sketches later, and Epic had actually helped to create the character; and as Epic just recently finishing the giftart itself (epicmyst.deviantart.com/art/An…), I wasted no time getting it colored in. (This helped me get out of my art slump pretty well as a side effect.) Needless to say, I'm incredibly happy to get such a great gift from Epic, and also very proud of the colored work. I think it's a fitting picture to post as my "I'm still alive!" deviation. :aww:

...Hmm, what else now?

General updates
<<><>>-------------------------------------------<<><>>
Just got back from the beach today, with my Mom (AlchemyOfLife) and brother (Blaze13), and friends Cathy (EyeOfOmega) and Claire (piikachuu). Cape May, New Jersey is always an awesome place to visit, and despite it being late in the year, the weather was great. We ended up visiting multiple beaches on Cape May Point, and did a great job wearing ourselves and each other out. We ended the day checking out the beach one last time, after the sun had set; the ocean is really something at night.
Most of us either slept or fought off sleep on the way back, completely worn out. Of course, me being the insomniac that I am, I wasn't one of the lucky ones to fall asleep on the way back; as a matter of fact, three hours later, here I am writing a journal. My legs ache like hell, but I wouldn't mind taking the two-hour car drive back up to the point again, sometime soon. :D (doubtful that the weather will stay this nice long enough though.)

That's about it, I suppose. I got Halo 3 the day it came out (thanks to my brother heading out for a midnight release at our local GameStop)... if you can't stand First-Person Shooters, buy the game for someone else and just watch them play it through. The storyline's just about that good. I'm addicted to it. New updates in Guild Wars, it still boggles my mind that a MMORPG with no subscription fee can even afford to keep making this much awesome bonus content. Oh, and anyone ever read Naomi Novik's "His Majesty's Dragon" series? It's awesome beyond awesome. The fourth book (out of five) was just released, and I'm reading it now. Gritty, realistic, and totally epic military story, with squadrons of dragons and riders, in the Napoleonic war(s). sounds strange, but somehow, the Napoleonic wars make perfect sense with dragons involved. Look up the books.

Beach is always awesome, yes. Especially if you can get good friends to come along, to make the ride shorter. =P

Oh, I can't be killed. I'm like an internet-borne parasite. =P
But it's not rare for me to get into a mood where I just don't feel like commenting and whatnot... it's always good to get messages then, to give me a good excuse to reply. I need motivation sometimes, and I don't always have it. :D

Oh, of course, I dropped a few comments on you recently. But I've got a few other people whom I haven't managed to comment on, so some people might wonder where I was. =P

They just dropped the price on the Xbox 360 recently too, I believe; make sure to jump for the slightly more expensive version, which comes with the wireless controller and hard drive. Without the hard drive, you've got nowhere to save games or profiles, so you'll need to buy one anyway; they're kinda pricey too. And the wireless controllers are just a million times better then anything else. Hey, drop me a line if you get one, and try to get online! The basic Xbox Live is free when you get it, you just can't play games online with that one. We can still meet up and whatnot on there. (You'll want Live for Halo 3, though. :D)

Some reason, it's soo much easier for me to color her work as well. Generally, my coloring style tends to pick up on the original artist's lineart, and it's very easy to pick up the flow from Epic's lineart and continue it in color. I've got some really nice results from other people too, though, so I like to keep myself on my toes and do collabs with all sorts of different artist styles. :aww:
